One Good Dating Tip: Your Breath Stinks

It might be the biggest faux pas guys make in the dating game – they have bad breath.

I might be Captain Obvious here, but if you are serious about meeting and dating great women…BE SURE TO HAVE GOOD BREATH.

Often though, the biggest hurdle is that guys DON’T KNOW that they have bad breath.  The trick of breathing into your hands in order to sniff it doesn’t work.  So, how can we tell?

A few years ago, I was dating a very cute girl.  We would go out 2-3 times per week.  When it came time for the end of the date, I would go to kiss her.  Guess what?

She would pull AWAY from me, and just giggle and say good night.  This happened multiple times.  It was hugely embarrassing.  I eventually stopped calling her as it was clearly going nowhere.  We remained friends though and one night at a party I asked her why she never wanted to kiss me (seriously, I did ask her this…even a few years later, I was curious).

Her answer?

You had bad breath

Aaaaaaah!!  I was thoroughly humiliated.  For some reason, it is SUPER taboo to have bad breath – at least in my book.  And I didn’t even smoke.

What’s scarier is – I DID NOT KNOW.

None of my friends or family ever told me, and I never bothered to ask.  I frankly did not think it was even a remote possibility.  Surely, someone would say something if this truly were the case.

Could this be the case for you?  It’s worth investigating.

So, the question becomes – how to tell?

Well, you’re going to have to ASK someone you trust to be honest with you for their opinion.  This might mean getting into their face and blowing – yes, I am serious.  The price to be paid is too high NOT to do this.

Here are some things to do to maintain good breath:

1) Brush and floss regularly (I do 2x per day).  Blood at all?  You might have gum disease (I did, that’s how I know) which almost certainly means bad, or sub-par, breath;

2) Be sure to use mouthwash, and definitely use it before going on a date;

3) SURPRISE - the little Listerine strips are a total waste of time.  Forget about them.  It masks bad breath for about 10 seconds – save your money and instead…

4) Buy a tongue scraper.  I have one and it helps (some).  Basically it cleans the tongue of any/all bacteria, and keeps it fresh.  I also brush the tongue AFTER scraping.

Ultimately, if you do have bad breath – and I am talking CHRONIC bad breath – then you will probably need to visit a dentist, and soon.  This might lead to needing periodontal treatments etc, should you have any form of gum disease. I know all of this because I’ve been through it.

Not having good breath might not be a huge turn-off for women, BUT it does serve as a signal to them of your general cluelessness and irresponsibility.

One of the huge themes I cover in my products is the theme of SECURITY.  A guy who has his shit together is attractive to women.  His life is in order, he’s able to take care of himself, and forge a meaningful path in the world.

His breath is the first sign of this to a woman.  When it’s bad, it’s a true warning sign that something is “off” about this guy.

So, get it handled.  Making a solid first impression is key, and your breath is a HUGE part of this.  Not only will it help you in meeting and dating women, but it will help you in life too.

And isn’t that why you’re here?
